Eight different Dortmund players were in action on Tuesday with their country in the final day of the international break

On the final day of the international break, many players were looking to make impressions with their national teams.

Japan took the field early on Tuesday to face Syria. Shinji Kagawa was in the starting lineup for the Japanese side looking to close out the group stage keeping eight clean sheets out of eight matches.

An early own goal from Syria set the tone for the evening in Saitama, as Kagawa scored twice and played all 90 minutes. Keisuke Honda and Genki Haraguchi both scored as well in the 5-0 romp by Japan. With the brace, Kagawa raised his AFC World Cup Qualifying goal scoring total to five goals.

Switzerland took on Bosnia and Herzegovina and for the second game in a row, Dortmund keeper Roman Burki was passed up for Yann Sommer. And for the second straight game, Switzerland lost. The question of who will be replacing Diego Benaglio between the pipes is far from answered for the Swiss.

Germany was in action this afternoon to face Italy in their final friendly match of March. Die Mannschaft scored four times against Gli Azzurri, and conceded just once on the afternoon. Three Dortmund players earned minutes in this game.

Mats Hummels got the start for the Germans and played all 90 minutes on defense. Midfielder Marco Reus played the final half hour for Germany, replacing Dortmund transfer target Mario Gotze. Matthias Ginter also saw the pitch, playing the final five minutes in relief of Jonas Hector.

Nuri Sahin and Turkey played in a late afternoon fixture against Austria, winning 2-1. Sahin was a late substitute, playing the final three minutes in relief of Cenk Tosun. Sahin was an unused substitute in Turkey's first friendly of the March international break.

Colombia, in need of a victory in a crucial World Cup Qualifying match, hosted Ecuador. Colombia earned a valuable three points with a 3-1 victory. Dortmund striker Adrian Ramos played the final eleven minutes, replacing Carlos Bacca.

The United States were the final team with Dortmund ties in action tonight. 17-year-old phenom Christian Pulisic was in action tonight, becoming the youngest American to play in a World Cup Qualifier. Pulisic came on as an 81st minute substitute.

Despite the game being already decisively in favor of the Americans, Pulisic impressed, nearly getting a one-on-one chance with the goaltender. He also forced a corner and looked potent on the attack.

With the international break over, these eight players will return back to Dortmund in preparations for this weekend's game against Werder Bremen on Saturday.

Dortmund's 17-year-old commits his future to the United States

Borussia Dortmund youngster Christian Pulisic was cap-tied to the United States when he came on as a substitute in the 81st minute of their 2018 World Cup qualifying match with Guatemala. There were concerns that Croatia were interested in having Pulisic, who was born in Hershey, Pennsylvania, play for their national team. He was eligible through his father and even has a Croatian passport. Those concerns, and many about the USMNT's World Cup qualifying campaign, were put to bed in Columbus, Ohio.

Jurgen Klinsmann opted to go with Graham Zusi from the start in what was a must-win game for the United States after a 2-0 loss in Guatemala a few days ago. The game was already in hand with the hosts leading 3-0 when Pulisic came into the game.

His cameo was short and he didn't have too much of a chance to impress, but he did get himself in good positions. He could've scored on Jozy Altidore's goal if Jozy had been feeling super generous and had made one more pass for the tap-in.

Just before the final whistle sounded Pulisic got past a few defenders with some tricky dribbling at the edge of the box. His final touch was too hard and was taken in by Guatemala's keeper, but it was representative of the skill that has so many Americans and Dortmund fans excited to see what he can do for their respective teams.

Jurgen Klinsmann had some high praise for Pulisic after the game.

Pulisic made his debut for Dortmund's senior team when he came on as a sub in the 70th minute of a 0-0 draw away to Hertha Berlin. The American has only made five appearances off the bench for Thomas Tuchel's senior squad, but he will certainly be handed a slightly larger role next season.

The 17-year-old, who turns 18 in December, had only made appearances for the United States at the U-15 and U-17 levels before tonight. When he took the field in Columbus he became the youngest American to ever play in a World Cup qualifier.

What do you think Pulisic's role will be with Dortmund going forward? Just how much time will he see with the Senior team next year?

please no one get hurt please no one get hurt please no one get hurt please no one get hurt please no one get hurt please no one get hurt please no one get hurt please no one get hurt please no one get hurt please no one get hurt

BVB players are back in action today as Germany takes on Italy and the USA takes on Guatemala. Hummels, Reus and Ginter will be in the 18 for the Germans and Christian Pulisic will hopefully get his first action with the USA.

Germany looks to correct Saturdays mistakes after losing a 2-0 lead in the final minutes vs England to lose 3-2. Hummels picked up a knock before the end of the full half and although it was minor, I wouldn't expect him to play at all to make sure he's healthy. We don't need to lose any players in a friendly.

After a disastrous loss against Guatemala, the USMNT are staring at the possibility of not going to the 2018 World Cup. a win is absolutely needed to keep the US up. So naturally first time call up Christian Pulisic will save the day right? Lets hope so, or his destiny of scoring a hat trick in the 2018 WC final against Germany will not come true.

He's the hero we need, but is he the hero we deserve?

US Soccer has announced that our very own Christian Pulisic has been added to the World Cup qualifying roster. After an injury to BMG midfielder Fabian Johnson the USMNT has chosen to bring Pulsic up to bring depth to our left midfield. The USMNT had a disastrous outing against Guatemala on Friday, leaving a small margin for error for the rest of their World Cup qualifying group stage games. Pulisic can be a very important boost for a team that has looked very flat for the last year. This will be Pulisic's first cap for the US National Team, lets hope it goes well. If yall remember the last BVB player to play for the USMNT senior team, Joe Gyau, his first outing didn't go so well as he picked up the knock that has kept him out since October 2014. Lets hope that doesn't happen to the Pulisic or TT himself may need to give Klinsmann a whooping.

Five Dortmund players were in action Saturday afternoon for their countries

Poland, coming off a 1-0 victory over Serbia on Wednesday, was looking to grab it's second consecutive friendly victory when they took on Finland.

Dortmund defender Lukasz Piszczek along with BVB loanee and Wednesday's goalscorer Jakub Blaszczykowski were both on the bench for the start of the match, making way for Poland to start a few new Ekstraklasa players instead.

However, those two would not be needed for Poland to hand Finland a 5-0 thrashing. Kamil Grosicki and Pawel Wszolek each scored twice while Filip Starzynski added one of his own.

Jakub Blaszczykowski came on in the 86th minute replacing Wszolek while Piszczek got the afternoon off to the delight of many a fan of Poland and Borussia Dortmund.

Later in the day, Germany and England renewed their storied rivalry for the first time in three years. It was the first of two friendlies this week for Germany, and they got things started on the wrong the foot falling 3-2 to England at home.

Marco Reus and Mats Hummels were both in the starting lineup for Die Mannschaft while Matthias Ginter was on the bench.

Hummels made way at halftime for debutant Jonathan Tah while Andre Schurrle replaced Marco Reus after 64 minutes. Ginter was left on the bench by Joachim Low in the loss.

Reus and Hummels failed to make an impact on the scoresheet as the Germans saw England score three unanswered goals in the final half-hour to win.

The scoring started in the first half when Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang converted a penalty to put his team ahead. Malick Evouna doubled the Gabon advantage before a late Sierra Leone strike from Sheka cut the deficit back to one.

Simultaneously, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Armenia were in action against Belarus. The match finished 0-0, but Mkhitaryan played all 90 minutes in the draw.

Armenia had plenty of chances to take the lead, but were shut down by Belarussian goalkeeper Sergei Chernik. On the other side, Armenian keeper Roman Berezovskiy was injured just eight minutes into the match and was replaced by Arsen Beglaryan.

Switzerland took on the Republic of Ireland Friday afternoon in Dublin. Following the retirement of long-time Swiss keeper Diego Benaglio, a competition for the starting job ensued between Yann Sommer, Marwin Hitz, and Dortmund keeper Roman Burki.

On Friday, Sommer was in net for the Swiss team, chosen ahead of Burki. His performance, along with the rest of his Switzerland team, was disappointing as Ireland won 1-0.

Offensively, the Swiss were not opportunistic and, as the commentators put it, "far from spectacular." Had Burki started, perhaps Switzerland might have played with more confidence.

However, with Switzerland host Bosnia and Herzegovina on Tuesday in Zurich, it may perhaps give Burki a chance to state his claim as the starting goalkeeper for Switzerland.

Kagawa's addition led to two more goals from the home side, who dominated Afghanistan from start to finish in Saitama, Japan. The fifth goal came off a cross from Kiyotake which bounced around the penalty area before finding Mu Kanazaki who finished off the Afghans.

Currently atop Group E in AFC World Cup Qualifying with 19 points and a 6W-1D-0L record, Japan will take on second-place Syria, looking to preserve a clean sheet for the entirety of the Group Stage. Japan currently has outscored its opponents 22-0, including a 3-0 victory over Syria in October.

Later in the day, Greece played host to Montenegro in an international friendly at Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium in Piraeus. Dortmund defender Sokratis started and played a full 90 minutes for Greece. He was voted Man of the Match by fans and users of the OneFootball app for his defensive efforts in a 2-1 victory over Montenegro..

Although he didn't show up on the scoresheet, Sokratis was instrumental in shutting down Montenegro's stingy forwards. Not only did Sokratis make it difficult for the opposing offense to get going, he also stepped in front of a few attempts towards goal to block shots.

Heading into the European Championship this summer, Poland is looking to gain some momentum with pivotal victories in these international friendlies. Featuring a strong attack with solid pairs of strikers and wingers, defense will be the emphasis of Poland's preparation.
