A few weeks ago, some seemingly speculative rumors surfaced linking Borussia Dortmund to their former star, Jadon Sancho. Reports suggested that BVB were exploring the possibility of bringing Sancho back home from his nightmare in Manchester. However, those rumors seemed to go pretty quiet after the initial reports. That is, until a little over an hour ago, when Florian Plettenberg reported that Borussia Dortmund are working on a deal to bring Sancho back to the club on loan from Manchester United.

Not long after Plettenberg’s tweet confirmed a deal is being worked on between the two clubs, multiple other credible sources confirmed the news, including David Ornstein & Raphael Honigstein at The Athletic, and now Fabrizio Romano.

Multiple reports believe that the deal is progressing quickly, and all parties are keen to make it happen. Things are moving so quickly that BILD, Funke Sport, and Kicker are all saying that the deal is imminent. The details of the move are still unclear, but we know that it is a loan deal, and several outlets are reporting it will cost around €3m for the six-month period he’d join the club. There have yet to be any reports suggesting that any options or obligations to make the move permanent are included in the deal.

Sancho was incredibly popular with BVB fans during his time in Germany, in part due to his obvious passion for the club. He seemed to really enjoy playing for Dortmund, and even after he moved to Manchester United he still showed that he was rooting for Die Schwarzgelben from afar.

As a result, it shouldn’t come as a huge surprise that Sancho himself is keen on the move. He apparently sees Dortmund as the right place for him to get back to his best form. If he can become even half the player he was in his previous stint at BVB, this move would be a huge success. Sancho put up a whopping 38 goals and 45 assists in 104 Bundesliga games, winning the DFB-Pokal in his final season with the club.

It looks like our beautiful boy is coming home. At last, something to be excited about! Happy new year folks.
