Good morning, Fear the Wall.
It was so great to have the Bundesliga back this weekend. Watching Marco Reus, Erling Haaland, and the rest of the attack rip Eintracht Frankfurt to shreds felt so satisfying after four long months without BVB football. While international football might be fun, this weekend proved that there really is no substitute for club football.
It was especially awesome to have fans back in the stadium. Clearly the players appreciated it as well:

The days of boring, soccer-less summer weekend mornings are no longer. Football was back in force this weekend, with most of Europe’s big leagues kicking off their domestic competitions. While Paul will break down the Bundesliga’s action in detail, I thought I’d take a look at some of the key events from other leagues this weekend.

Meanwhile, over in Spain, the post-Messi era for Barcelona started surprisingly well. The Catalan giants thoroughly defeated Real Sociedad, and by all accounts Memphis Depay was an absolute baller. Just look at this flick:
