Dortmund have at least five friendlies scheduled for the coming weeks, with friendlies against FC Gießen, Duisburg, and VFL Bochum, followed by a pair of friendlies in Switzerland and Austria against Athletic Bilbao and Bologna. The first match, against Gießen, will be played on July 13th.

Marcel Schmelzer Extends Contract

Borussia Dortmund’s long-time left back and two-time Meisterschale winner Marcel Schmelzer has extended his contract with Borussia Dortmund for another year. While his playing career is winding down and he probably won’t receive significant minutes, according to RN, the club extended his contract another year to ensure there aren’t any issues with his health insurance while he undergoes therapy for the knee injury he suffered in 2020.
