Good morning, Fear the Wall! I hope you all enjoyed your Independence Day.
BVB Interested in Noni Madueke AND Donyell Malen?
In his article yesterday, Gregory explained how instead of finding a like-for-like replacement for Jadon Sancho would be borderline impossible. In Zac’s article last week, he brought up the potential acquisitions of Donyell Malen and Noni Madueke, and looked at what would happen if BVB purchased either player. But one thing he didn’t consider... justifiably so... is what would happen if Dortmund purchased both.
A week ago, I would have scoffed at such a suggestion. It seemed for a while that BVB’s front office would use most of the cash from the Sancho sale to balance their books and then buy maybe one of them. However, it seems that Dortmund could be closing in on not just one, but both PSV Eindhoven forwards. According to journalist Constantin Eckner, Dortmund’s front office is indeed negotiating with Eindhoven for the purchase of both players.
The move for Madueke in particular has gone as far as to have his father and agent visiting BVB’s training facilities. Both players could probably go for between €50-65 million, with the Madueke fee likely to be around €20-25 million, and the Malen fee likely being around €25-30 million.
Julian Brandt to Stay in Dortmund
According to BILD, Julian Brandt will stay in Dortmund, according to the wishes of manager Marco Rose. Rose is a fan of Brandt’s play style and would like to use him during the upcoming season. Brandt had received some interest from SS Lazio, but now looks like he will remain in black and yellow.
