Good morning, Fear the Wall.
So after a pretty bustling day yesterday, today has been pretty slow. We’re in the final stretch of the preseason before the DFB Pokal begins, and before you know it, the Bundesliga will be on.
In the meantime, there’s the Olympics. To be honest, I think the Olympics are mostly boring, and I can’t wait for soccer to start. Rowing is the only one of the “obscure” sports I even tolerate, just because I did it in high school.
There’s been much discussion about yesterday’s Simone Biles incident, in which Biles had to withdraw from the Gymnastics finals because she was suffering from Aerial Disorientation, which could have caused her a serious injury. In the brief time period that people thought she had withdrawn for mental health reasons, the outpouring of support was mostly positive. I’m sure there were a few anonymous Twitter trolls and loudmouth pundits who would say otherwise, but most people seemed to fully support her. I think it’s a great thing to see, but something I feel would be lacking in Soccer. Could you imagine the reaction if a player like Harry Kane or Toni Kroos had withdrawn from a Champions League or a World Cup final for mental health reasons? Would the reaction have been so overwhelmingly supportive? I don’t know, it’s just something to think about.

Joshua Zirkzee is Havin’ a Good Time
There’s no point in posting this other than the fact that it’s really funny.

Hopefully Joshua Zirkzee recovers from this embarrassing moment and goes on to start many, many moments for Bayern Munich this season. He’s a young kid still and this was only a friendly, maybe he’ll see this as a learning moment, albeit a very embarrassing one.
