Good morning, everyone. Happy Friday.
Marco Rose Arrives in Dortmund
BVB’s new head coach, Marco Rose, officially joined the club yesterday. He held a press conference where he stressed the need for Dortmund to be tactically flexible:
Back three, back four, a diamond is always an exciting system, two strikers, a very strong midfield, lots of lines, good for pressing, good for switching, good at positional play, because you can do a lot with this particular system.
The idea of a formation with two strikers suggests that BVB’s interest in Donyell Malen could be driven by his tactical possibilities. He’s a much more direct forward than Sancho, the player he’d replace, which means he could form a deadly pairing with Erling Haaland.
RN: Borussia Dortmund *NOT* interested in Marcel Halstenberg
A few days ago, BILD reported a rumor that RB Leipzig’s utility defender Marcel Halstenberg was a potential target for Borussia Dortmund. However, the more reliable Ruhr Nachrichten reported yesterday that there is no truth to these rumors, and that BVB are not interested in Halstenberg.
