Well that was something... Borussia Dortmund were poor, and dropped points against a team they absolutely have to be beating. Taking the lead early on in the game, it really should have been plain sailing, but for whatever reason, Dortmund just can’t handle a lead. They took their foot off the gas, and before long Köln were level, after a silly mistake by Jude Bellingham gave Köln a penalty. After the break, things didn’t get much better, and a really poor touch by Thomas Meunier gifted Köln the lead. Erling Haaland saved the day with a late equalizer, but it’s the same old nonsense.
I can’t be bothered to pick apart the BVB performance. We’ve seen this so many times before. Here are four nominations for today’s man of the match, most of which barely deserve a mention.
Erling Haaland
He wasn’t best pleased about having to dig BVB out of a hole, but he did the job anyway. Two more goals, but if we keep asking him to save Dortmund against relegation candidates, he probably isn’t going to hang around much longer.
Ansgar Knauff
Look, it was slim pickings, and Knauff came on and did some damage. I thought he was impressive in his short stint on the pitch. He produced the assist for the equalizing goal, and his presence on the pitch at the end of the game gave me an excuse to make the “I’ve had A. Knauff” joke.
Emre Can
Lovely ball for the first goal. What more do you want from me?!
Mahmoud Dahoud
It wasn’t Dahoud’s best game, but at this point I’m struggling to think of anyone else that wasn’t explicitly bad. Schulz didn’t seem to cause too many problems? Moukoko was solid when he came on? I don’t know. I’m sure someone will let me know that I’m terribly stupid for not naming X player.
I look forward to all the positive feedback about today’s game...
