On Their Loansome: Underdogs Had Themselves a Weekend

It was upsets galore in this week’s loanee update!

Welcome to Fear The Wall’s weekly recap of each Borussia Dortmund loanee’s performance at their respective clubs. BVB have four players out on loan, whose loans all end on June 30, 2021. If you have any questions or suggestions, feel free to leave them in the comments.


Leonardo Balerdi (CB)

Olympique Marseille (Ligue 1, Coupe de France)

Olympique Marseille drew 1-1 to bottom of the table side FC Nantes on February 20th. Leonardo Balerdi sat on the bench for the match.

Balerdi has one assist, four yellow cards, and one red card in nine appearances (eight starts) in Ligue 1.

Sergio Gómez (AM)

SD Huesca (La Liga)

Last place SD Huesca beat ninth place FC Granada 3-2 on February 21st. Sergio Gómez sat on the bench the entire game. Is it time to call the kid back? (Please discuss below).

Gómez has one assist in 16 La Liga appearances (two starts).

Immanuel Pherai (AM)

PEC Zwolle (Eredivisie)

PEC Zwolle lost 3-2 to last place FC Emmen on February 20th. Immanuel Pherai got subbed on in the 60th minute. He did nothing of note (zero shots, zero shot-creating actions, zero drawn or committed fouls).
