Borussia Dortmund announced today that starting goalkeeper Roman Burki will miss 10-14 days with a shoulder injury. He reportedly sustained the injury during training last week, which was subsequently confirmed by an MRI conducted Monday. Fellow Swiss goalkeeper Marvin Hitz is a more than capable backup, and will be set for his second run of games this season. Thankfully, Burki isn’t projected to miss any matches against major opponents. Hitz is likely to get the starts against Paderborn, Freiburg and possibly Hoffenheim. Burki, who often saves his best for the Champions League, is expected to return for the opening match against Sevilla on February 17th.

Wishing you a speedy recovery, Roman! pic.twitter.com/werTw2a5Ep
Even though he has struggled at times throughout the season, Burki is one of the longest-serving members of the Borussia Dortmund squad. By all accounts he is a great person and a voice of leadership within the locker room. We all wish him a speedy recovery.
