Good morning, Fear the Wall!

I hope you are all enjoying that weird week between Christmas and New Years when you have to work but nobody has anything to do and half your office is out..

Erling Haaland Transfer Updates

The seemingly endless transfer saga of Erling Haaland might finally be approaching its conclusion. According to reports from Gianluca di Marzio, the two clubs that Erling Haaland is most interested in are Real Madrid and Barcelona. Of those two clubs, Real Madrid would be the one most likely to afford his transfer fee, agent fees, and the presumably massive wages he would require in his next contract.

Despite the never-ending frenzy, it’s still not a foregone conclusion that Haaland will leave in January, or even over the Summer. According to BILD, BVB’s front office is planning on discussing a contract extension with Erling Haaland in January, and will hand him a deadline to make a decision about his future of the end of February.

Matthias Ginter and Denis Zakaria to leave Mönchengladbach

Borussia Mönchengladbach have struggled mightily this Bundesliga season. After losing Marco Rose to BVB, they’ve fallen all the way to 14th place, although with the table so close, a few strong results could push them far up. Unfortunately for Gladbach, two key players, Denis Zakaria and Matthias Ginter, both have contracts expiring in the summer. According to multiple reports, both players will be leaving the club on free transfers, either in January or in the summer.

Max Eberl, Mönchengladbach’s Sporting Director, is normally very competent, but it appears that he’s going to lose two very valuable players for little if any reimbursement. Borussia Dortmund are one of the clubs reportedly interested in Zakaria, and may be able to sign him in January for a minimal fee. Meanwhile, Matthias Ginter announced on his Instagram that he will be leaving in the summer:
