Man of the Match Poll: Borussia Dortmund Come out A-Head after FC Cologne Clash

Two headers secured three points for the team, but who stood out as today’s MOTM candidates?

Injuries continue to plague Borussia Dortmund which can leave us guessing who will step up to contend for Man of the Match. After the first 40 minutes of play, I was hard pressed to really single anyone out; fortunately, that changed once BVB got on the score sheet. Following the opening goal there were several options for my choosing, alas only four can make the cut.

Here are this week’s nominees!

Marius Wolf

BVB’s utility player won the majority of his challenges as well as being active offensively. Wolf manages to play any position competently and today was no different. Watching him make that mad dash in the first half to blow past Cologne defenders, I decided his theme song is Hungry Like a Wolf.

Steffen Tigges

Today, Tigges personified the term “Super Sub.” What an utter surprise to witness Tigges come off the bench to score a header from a corner. The second goal of the match gave BVB some much needed breathing room during the final third of the match. Any substitute hopes to come on and accomplish the task at hand and Tigges did just that.

Thorgan Hazard

The Cologne defense had a devil of a time preventing Toto from scoring a header late in the first half. Hazard came into this match very hot after scoring a brace during the mid-week Pokal match so it was a delight to see Hazard put BVB on the scoresheet first just before the break.
