Good morning, Fear The Wall!

BVB Chasing Florian Neuhaus

According to a report from Sport1, Borussia Dortmund are making Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Florian Neuhaus their main target in the 2021 summer transfer window. Dortmund will have to fend off Bayern Munich for his signing, according to the same report.

The 23-year-old, who has represented the German national team three times, has a release clause of €40 million. Whether Dortmund can afford that clause depends on whether or not they qualify for Champions League and possibly make a few transfers, although tabbing Marco Rose as Dortmund’s next manager could help the signing go much smoother.

The same Sport1 report states that should BVB fail to acquire Neuhaus, the club will go after Manuel Locatelli of Sassuolo. However, Transfermarkt states that he will cost upwards of €35 million, and clubs such as Juventus have also been linked to signing him.

Dortmund is going to need to make smart moves this coming summer window, as they have been affected by the COVID-induced absence of fans at any home matches this season. They will definitely need to offload a few players to raise the necessary capital for summer signings, regardless of whether or not they qualify for Champions League.
