Good morning, Fear The Wall!

It was announced on Tuesday that Borussia Dortmund would have another pre-season friendly on the schedule, this time against Sparta Rotterdam on September 7. Rotterdam finished last season 11th in the Dutch Eredivisie after spending the 2018-19 season in the Erste Division.

Dortmund are looking to end the pre-season on a high note after two disappointing results in friendlies against Paderborn (1-1 draw) and VfL Bochum (1-3 defeat). While it’s only pre-season and the rosters Favre used to the shortened games were experimental, I’m not a big fan of BVB drawing against a relegated team or getting their doors blown off by a club that hasn’t seen the top flight of German football since 2010.
Five Subs in 20/21
Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga clubs have agreed to keep the five substitution rule in place for the 2020/21 German domestic season.

The Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga clubs have agreed to keep in place the five substitution rule instituted following the COVID restart of the 2019-20 season for this season. The rule was meant to be only temporary as clubs were returning from the COVID-forced shutdown of the 2019-20 season as leagues were forced to greatly condense their schedules.
While this rule will benefit bigger clubs with deeper rosters like Bayern and BVB, it could harm smaller clubs that don’t have much depth or great talent coming off the bench. We’ll see if that comes to fruition as the season begins.
Away Kit Revealed
While we may have known about the Dortmund away kit for most of the summer, BVB officially unveiled the away kit for the 2020-21 season:
This is Dortmund, this is our city, this is the 20/21 Away kit! pic.twitter.com/VInIj3F6OZ

It’s nice to get a look at the real kit on a person rather than in flat images leaked to the internet, but it looks... meh. I’m a big fan of that spray paint sash, and it’s impossible for our black kits to look terrible thanks to the contrasting yellow, but the graffiti in the bottom right side of the kit just doesn’t do it for me. I’m sure it will grow on me like the lightning bolt home or the bland-looking cup kit, but right now it only gets a 6/10 from me.
