Dortmund Match preview: Dortmund look to keep hot start going vs Augsburg

Our first away game of the Bundesliga season is upon us. While there won’t be a full complement of fans in Augsburg Arena, BVB still have their work cut out for them. Augsburg won their match last week 3-1 vs Union Berlin. According to Favre, Raph Guerreiro and Nico Schulz are questionable to be available.

Favre will most likely run the 3 back yet again this week. It has worked so well there is no need to change things up vs Augsburg and with most of the team healthy. Can-Hummels Akanji will obviously be our back three yet again. The wing backs could be a runback of last week with Meunier and Hazard, but if not, Raph would probably slot in for one of them. Honestly its hard to pick among those three players, and if Hazard were to play on the wing that would be removing one of our also talented wingers. This is a good problem for Favre to have in the end. I was a little surprised to see Bellingham get the start right away last week vs BMG. He played so well I’d think that him and Witsel will also start again in CM. Another surprise form last weeks lineup was Gio Reyna’s inclusion in the starting XI. Reyna played fantastically, however if I'm Favre I think I’d play Brandt in that spot. Brandt is a better player and we shouldn’t keep him frozen out of the lineup if we can help it. The other two players in the team are no brainers. Erling Haaland and Jadon Sancho are both superstars in European football. As long as one of them is on the field we have a high chance of winning. The last time Haaland played vs Augsburg, he scored a hat trick in 20 minutes. I think we’d all love to see a similar show put on Saturday.

Augsburg haven’t been a big concern for BVB in quite some time. This years squad looks like it may be coming together quite nicely however. Vets like Caliguiri and Niederlechner are still threats and young talent like Ruben Vargas and Reece Oxford are impressive up and comers with lots to prove. FCA will probably run out a 4-2-3-1 and play tight and back waiting for a chance to pounce on the counter. Last week they responded very well to a tough situation after Union scored. Berlin were on the front foot but Augsburg took control of the game and scored 2 late to win. BVB can’t get lackadaisical with a goal lead against this FCA squad.

So what do you think should be the lineup/gameplan for our match vs Augsburg
