Good morning, Fear the Wall.
Champions League Recap
The Round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League wrapped up this weekend, with mostly predictable results. Bayern defeated Chelsea to win 7-1 on aggregate, Man City beat Real Madrid to win 4-2 on aggregate, and Barcelona beat Napoli to win 4-2 on aggregate. The only underdog who won was Olympique Lyon, who just managed to hold off an offensive onslaught from Juventus.
This means that the Quarterfinal matchups are finally set in stone. Barcelona and Bayern will face each other, while Man City will play Olympique Lyon. The remaining two matches, Atalanta vs PSG and RB Leipzig vs Atletico Madrid, were already set in stone.
New Juventus Manager... Andrea Pirlo?
So only 10 days after being appointed manager of Juventus’s U-23 team, Pirlo has been promoted to become the new head coach of Juventus. He must have worked miracles with those U-23s, amirite? In all seriousness, this is somewhat out of left field. Sarri was a disappointment for sure, but Pirlo has basically no managerial experience. He only got his coaching license in August of last year, and his appointment over the Juventus U-23s was his first managerial position. Juve are definitely taking a gamble.
