Good Morning, Fear the Wall.
Bayern Win the DFB Pokal
Having nothing better to do this Fourth of July, I made the mistake of tuning into the DFB Cup Final, and watching Bayer Leverkusen lose to Bayern in the most Leverkusen-y manner possible. This game had everything: Kevin Volland whiffing on a tap-in, Lukas Hradecky pulling a Lorius Karius against Robert Lewandowski, Kerem Demirbay slicing a corner like a bad golf shot, Moussa Diaby sending crosses into the stands, Kai Havertz waltzing around haplessly and then scoring a meaningless last-minute penalty, and more. The ironic thing is that I thought Leverkusen played pretty well after the first thirty minutes, and were really taking Bayern to task in the second half, but they couldn’t escape the typical Leverkusen ineptitude that has plagued the club for years.

More importantly, Bayern have officially sealed their fate in the Super Cup next season. By knocking out Bayer Leverkusen, they have now guaranteed another glorious victory for Borussia Dortmund against Bayern in the super cup next season. Bayern might have won a domestic double, but it ultimately pales in comparison to the real trophy that everyone wants to win.
Bring it on.
