Another outgoing move for BVB. The team has announced Leo Balerdi has been loaned to Ligue 1’s Olympique de Marseille. Balerdi is a 21 year old defender from Argentina who has been with the team since 2019. While it was not confirmed if there will be a obligation to buy, Zorc’s statement “Leonardo Balerdi approached us with the change request. He hopes for more game practice in Marseille. We thank him for his commitment and wish him the greatest possible success for his future,” makes it feel like Balerdi isn’t coming back. Leo came to us in the winter window of 2019 and never really got a crack in the team. He only ever played 8 games for the first team in his time here. It would be nice if he is able to shine in France and earn his way back onto the BVB first team. Judging from his play time for us however, he has a long way to go.
