Good morning, Fear the Wall.
CBS to Carry the Champions League this August
This is a somewhat old story, but I don’t believe we ever covered it, and it seems worth bringing up. Earlier in the summer, Turner bought out their contract to carry the Champions League in the United States. While TNT and Bleacher Report routinely offered subpar coverage of the Champions League and will be missed by nobody, there was still doubt over whether CBS, the network slated to take over in 2021, would take over US broadcasting ahead of schedule.
Luckily for us, CBS has stepped up and will begin airing the UCL in August on their streaming service, CBS Sports HQ. CBS are most known in the United States for their coverage of NFL and College Basketball. Their only soccer coverage thus far has been the National Women’s Soccer League, and we’ve never seen whether or not they can carry a major European competition.
Real Madrid Win La Liga
Real Madrid are officially champions of Spain! I didn’t cover this on Friday morning, so I figure I might as well congratulate them here. They beat Villareal 2-1 on Thursday to secure their 34th title in club history. Los Blancos drew to Leganes 2-2 yesterday to finish the season with 87 points, five points ahead of Barcelona in 2nd place.

So, yeah. Congratulations.
The Daily Buzz
With BVB out of the Champions League, who will you be rooting for to go on and win it? Personally, I’ll be rooting for Atalanta and/or Olympique Lyonnais.
