Good morning, Fear the Wall.
Happy Bastille Day! It’s like the Fourth of July, but ten days later, and... French. Now go do yourselves a favor and celebrate with a Pain Au Chocolat. You’ll thank me later.
EPL Updates
Even though the Bundesliga is finished, there’s still quality football to be consumed. The North London Derby was this past weekend. While both Arsenal and Tottenham have been far below their usual standards this year, but much like the Revierderby and other notorious rivalries, neither team has to be good for the match to be competitive. Tottenham were victorious this time around, with a 2-1 victory off of an 81st minute header from Toby Alderweireld off a corner.
Yesterday, Manchester United faced Southampton. Although Saints got off to an early lead, United roared back with two goals in quick succession. It wasn’t until the final minute of stoppage time when Southampton drew level with a sloppy goal, also off a corner, from Michael Obafemi. Ralph Hassenhüttl has done a magnificent job to turn Southampton around. Even though he came from RB Leipzig, it’s still exciting to see a manager who rose to prominence in the Bundesliga succeed elsewhere.
Erling Håland’s Shenanigans
Erling Håland has kept himself busy since the end of the Bundesliga season. Over the weekend, the Borussia Dortmund twitter page posted a photograph of Håland standing over a fallen tree with a chainsaw. Logging is a classic hobby: it’s always great to be outside, in the fresh air, working out, getting strong. It seems as if Håland still had energy to burn off, because later in the weekend, Håland was filmed being politely escorted out of what I can only assume was one of Oslo’s finer jazz lounges.

Now we obviously don’t have any context for this, but I think it’s safe to say that it was probably just a misunderstanding. He was probably nudged into by some gentleman and accidentally spilled some fine bourbon on his lap, and refused to pay for the gentleman’s tailor bill (as would have been his right).
