It was our last away game of the season and it was a good one. BVB won 2-0 against RB Leipzig to secure the second place spot in the league. Our goals were from Erling Haaland(30’,90’)
The first half was all BVB. While we only scored one goal we had plenty of chances to make it a 3 or 4 goal lead. The BVB goal came from a Brandt run and pass to the center of the box. Reyna then one touched it masterfully to Haaland who put it away. Reyna’s one touch pass for the assist was the highlight of the game for me.
The second half looked like it was going to a classic Dortmund blown lead. We let Leipzig right back into the game. RB were on the front foot for most of the half. Luckily for us we were did not allow Leipzig to get on the scoreboard, thanks in large part to Mats Hummels. The game ended with another BVB goal. Haaland scored again on a sliding “shot” he received from Brandt.
Overall this game was the same old story from BVB. We played one good half and one bad half. This time it actually worked out for us. Reyna and Morey both looked good in their starts. Both players will be consistent 1st teamers next season and it won’t be long before they are every game starters. Mats Hummels was the hero this game. Not only did he create some decent chances, he was our rock at the back. This Leipzig team are no joke when it comes to scoring, especially when they are dominating a game. Hummels kept the game in our favor here. Brandt earned himself a hockey assist and regular assist on both our goals. He looks great no matter what position we play him in now it seems. With Can getting his 5th yellow his season for BVB is done. He was an incredible pick up. I was a huge doubter but game like this one make it clear why we need him.
So how do we all feel about our second tro last game of the season?
