Its time for another FTW round table. We decided since many other SB nation blogs are talking about their favorite jerseys we would join in the fun. BVB have had some of the slickest kits in world football so we have a lot to choose from. Each of us will also add in our favorite non-BVB jersey as well. Feel free to sound off in the comments on what your favorite kits of all time, BVB or not
Favorite BVB jersey: 1996/1997
The 96/97 jerseys will always be a symbol of our first Champions League title in 97. In addition to wearing a great kit that year, taking the UCL made this team legendary.
Favorite non BVB all time:USA 1994
Incredible denim style uniforms. This will always be the all time USMNT uni.
Favorite BVB Jersey: 1994/1995
It’s no wonder the mid-to-late 90s was BVB’s most successful period. When you look good, you play good.
Favorite Non-BVB Jersey: Nigeria 2018
There could be no other. The greatest kit ever made. And an amazing representation of Nigerian culture. Nike’s Design Director, Peter Hoppins, referred to Nigeria’s young team as having a “boldness that aligns in Nigeria and Lagos and in London”, and they did a great job expressing that with the kit!
Favorite BVB Kit: 2005-2006 Home Kit
It just makes me wish that Rosicky stayed at BVB instead of moving to Arsenal, and how much of a BVB legend he would have became if he stayed at the club.
Favorite Non-BVB Style Kit: 1990 Germany kit
A classic kit - it’s simultaneously retro and oozes swag. I love it.
Brett R. Bobysud
Favorite BVB kit: 2011-12
The double winning kit.
Favorite Non-BVB Style Kit: 2018 Japan kit
Sometimes the simplicity of a kit is what makes it great.
Favorite BVB kit: 2017-18
This is more of a sentimental pick for me. Not only was this the first soccer jersey for a pro team I ever purchased (a Pulisic, of course), but it was the official starting point of me becoming a die-hard Dortmund supporter.
Favorite Non-BVB Style Kit: 2018-present Bhutan national team kit
The hipster pick to be sure, but come on. Those orange kits with the yellow dragon are absolutely beautiful.
Favorite BVB Kit: 2014/15 Home
Old kits suck.
I don’t buy any of this “it’s important to remember our heritage” nonsense. Society is in a constant progression onward and upward, and our soccer kits are no exception. Old kits are baggy, usually have ugly colors, and have designs that resemble something I would’ve drawn with MS Paint in 2002. These 2014-15 home kits, on the other hand, are slick and modern, and feature a minimalist yet pleasing design.
Favorite non-BVB kit: Slovenia 2017-18 Away
It’s too bad that I’m not part Slovenian, or that Slovenia doesn’t have any notable outfield players (but somehow two world class goalkeepers), because that shirt is a thing of beauty. I love the depiction of the alps and the really neat blue and white gradient that mimics snowcapped mountain peaks. That overall shade of blue is really nice as well. 10/10, Slovenia.
