- COVID-19 affects the Bundelsiga
Well we all felt this was going to happen sooner or later. BVB and the City of Dortmund have announced that games at Signal Iduna Park will be played behind closed doors due to COVID-19 precautions. This includes our derby vs Schalke this weekend as well as our home match vs Bayern Munich in April.

Nach jetzigem Stand gilt diese Regelung auch für das Spitzenspiel des #BVB gegen Bayern München am 4. April. Bis dahin wird die Lage aber erneut bewertet.#bvbfcb @BVB

After our game against PSG was announced to be behind closed doors and Seria A cancelled all games I figured that the Bundesliga would be next to start these measures. Bayern and BMG have closed their home games as well. Nothing is announced for national team games for the upcoming break but I would assume those games are outright cancelled.
The biggest impact of these closures will be financially. Ticket revenue will have large effects on teams bottom lines. However closing the games is the right call. It is not worth the risk of letting people get infected. Football is great but keeping people safe is the right thing to do. It’s unclear how long these closures will last but we will be sure to keep you updated when we know.
