Fan protests make a boring game more interesting

Well a win is a win. BVB won 1-0 tody at home to Freigburg, We still sit 3rd on the table. Our lone goal is from Jadon Sancho who was set up by Julian Brandt and Thorgan Hazard.

The first half started well but got pretty boring quick. The lone goal came from Sancho slotting it in on a great team play. Julian Brandt made a great effort then pass to get the ball to Hazard who then played it off to Sancho for the easy finish. After that 15’’ minute goal nothing much happened the rest of the half. BVB let their foot off the gas and let Freiburg back into the game but Freiburg couldn’t take advantage of it.

The second half did not start much more exciting then the first ended. The biggest note from this half I‘d say is the referee making one of the most egregious stops of play I’ve seen in any sport. When the BVB fans started signing mean songs about Dietmar Hopp the ref stooped the game and had the PA announcer say it would be called off and forfeited if they continued. This is quite frankly an insane stance for the DFB to take. They let racism continue in the top leagues but the moment a mean song starts about some old billionaire the hammer is brought down quickly. Anyways not much more happened in the second half. BVB made two decent chances but did not convert. Freiburg looked like the would equalize but could not.

Overall this game was very tepid from BVB. While we did win we looked awful after taking the league. It was reminiscent of our Hinrunde chokes against other mid table teams. Sancho was probably the best player on the field. Haaland only came on as a sub but i would say this was his most absent performance as a black and yellow so far. That is a pretty high bar however.

How did you feel about today's game?
