The top 5 teams all won on matchday 22 so nothing really changed at the top of the table. Nevertheless, it was a successful weekend for Borussia Dortmund as they bounced back from the Leverkusen loss with a convincing 4:0 against Eintracht Frankfurt. It was important to get back on track before tomorrow’s Champions League clash against PSG.

Bayern Munich had no trouble with Köln as they won 4:1 and kept the lead in the Bundesliga. RB Leipzig defeated Werder Bremen 3:0 and are still trailing the Bavarians by just one point. Werder Bremen meanwhile are stuck in the relegation zone and are slowly losing touch to 15th place.

Borussia Mönchengladbach are level on points with BVB after their 4:1 against Fortuna Düsseldorf. Bayer Leverkusen were down early to Union Berlin but bounced back ad won 3:2. The Werkself are in the hunt for a spot in the top 4.

The bottom three teams in the Bundesliga, Paderborn, Bremen and Düsseldorf, all lost and desperately need to win some matches if they want to avoid being relegated this season.

Lukasz Piszczek is in his tenth year with the black and yellows and it looks like he could add another year in Dortmund. As Michael Zorc confirmed to Ruhr Nachrichten there are currently negotiations between the club and they player about a contract extension. The club has not made a final decision yet if they want to keep the right back around for another year but if he continues to play like he did against Frankfurt it would definitely be worth it.

BVB’s new star striker has talked to Bundesliga.com about his start at BVB, the decision to join the black and yellows and what it’s like to play with players like Sancho, Reus and Hazard. He also talked about the famous yellow wall and what it is like playing and scoring in front of it:

“It was exactly the same as I had before. I heard a lot about it, I’d seen a lot of games, I’d seen how amazing the fans are and all those kind of things, but I didn’t know it was so nice. When I walked out for the first time, on the bench of course, and I heard the Yellow Wall and the whole stadium singing, it was fantastic, it was like a dream when you’re young and dream to play in front of 80,000. It was another level… This was also quite nice, to be honest!”

  • Neymar ready to face BVB

Paris St. Germain will travel to Dortmund with Neymar. There were doubts about the superstars availability for the match but the Brazilian forward is ready in time for the round of sixteen clash. There won’t be a reunion with ex-BVB defender Abdou Diallo though, the centre-back is not in the matchday squad as well as Leandro Paredes.
