Good morning, Fear The Wall!

Erling Haaland is Happy at Dortmund

In an Instagram post by soccer journalist and everyone’s favorite transfer reporter Fabrizio Romano, soccer super agent Mino Raiola spoke with Sky Sports about a number of topics, mainly Manchester United player Paul Pogba, but among the topics was the status of Erling Haaland.

In the post above, Mino talks about how Erling reminds him of one Zlatan Ibrahimovic at this age, the rumors that clubs such as Real Madrid are planning to make a move for the young Norwegian, and how competitive Haaland is... even at chess.

Could some this all be agent talk, angling for a new contract with Dortmund? I wouldn’t count that out when it comes to Mino, but I’m in a good mood this morning so I’ll say that Erling is truly happy at Dortmund and doesn’t want to move any time soon. Let’s win him a trophy during his time here, please?

Congrats to the Crew

I didn’t see this anywhere on the site yesterday or over the weekend, but I wanted to give a congratulations to the Columbus Crew for winning the 2020 MLS Cup over the weekend. They soundly defeated Seattle Sounders 3-0 on a chilly night in Columbus, winning their second MLS Cup and sixth overall trophy.

It’s awesome to see a club, an original MLS club that was very nearly relocated to Austin over a year ago (don’t get me started on that BS, that’s for another day), led to the fan movement #SaveTheCrew, and even had old state legislation regarding teams relocating (passed after the Browns left Cleveland in 1996) used in a lawsuit against the previous owner. The club seemed doomed to relocate until current Browns owner Jimmy Haslam bought the club and kept them in Columbus. Now, three years since the move was first announced, they are MLS Cup champions. It’s the kind of story that deserves a sappy movie made about it.

Somewhat related, but the proposed move led to one of the greatest supporter chants against their owner that I’ve ever heard.

From facing relocation to lifting a trophy, congratulations Columbus Crew!
