Man of the Match Poll: Borussia Dortmund 1-5 VfB Stuttgart

What a collapse. We’ve got used to seeing Borussia Dortmund put in meek performances every once in a while, dropping points to teams that they should absolutely be able to beat, but today’s game was something else entirely. BVB started quietly, and Stuttgart came out fast, pressing all over the pitch. 25 minutes in to the game, they got their reward for their efforts, as Can made a poor, last ditch tackle, conceding a penalty, which Wamangituka calmly converted. Dortmund were poor throughout the first half, but towards the end they started to look like they were picking things up, and then Reyna scored a wonderful chipped goal from a lofted Guerreiro pass.

Going in to the break level gave us some reason for hope, and when the second half started, BVB looked a little brighter. But then Stuttgart hit them on the break, scoring another goal. And another. And another. And another...

What a genuinely horrible performance. This wasn’t the usual lackluster, tired effort we often see from BVB. It was a complete collapse. Full credit to Stuttgart for putting in an excellent performance, and working hard for the full 90 minutes, but BVB gave them a helping hand by playing awful football.

Which brings me to the man of the match vote. What a wealth of choice you have! Let us know who you thought came out from this sewage smelling of roses.
