It’s nice to get an easy win every so often, and that’s what we got today as Borussia Dortmund beat Club Brugge 3-0. BVB started quickly, scored early, and never looked back. Not only did Dortmund managed to score in the first half, something they’ve rarely managed so far this season, they managed to do it three times! BVB came out flying, scoring two quick goals from Thorgan Hazard and Erling Haaland, followed by another Haaland goal on the half hour mark.
On paper it looked like the game was actually pretty close, but I don’t think that is true. It wasn’t as though Dortmund were playing Brugge off the park, but they capitalized on several easy chances, and never looked in danger of giving up their lead. It was yet another clean sheet for Burki, and this was especially good news given the makeshift backline, which included Axel Witsel at CB.
The win puts Dortmund top of their group on 6 points, ahead of Lazio on 5 points. At the halfway mark in the group stages of the Champions League, BVB are in a decent position. There were some concerns after Dortmund lost to Lazio in the opening game of their European campaign, but from that point on, they’ve looked comfortable in two victories.
So what did you make of the game? Let us know who you thought deserved the man of the match by voting in the poll below. We’ve narrowed down your options by getting the good people over at the FTW Discord to nominate players for man of the match. Of course, it didn’t help that most of them nominated Simon Mignolet, but luckily they also mentioned one or two Dortmund players too. Otherwise I’d have had to make it up on my own.
If you think that the real man of the match didn’t make the list, not only should you blame someone else and leave me alone, you should let everyone know in the comments!
