Good morning, Fear the Wall.
Niklas Süle Tests Positive for COVID-19
As Coronavirus cases rise across Europe, we’re starting to see more and more players test positive. Borussia Dortmund know this feeling too well, with Manuel Akanji and Emre Can having tested positive in the last month. Bayern Munich had a brief scare last week when Serge Gnabry has a false positive. Today, Goal.com reported that Niklas Süle has now also tested positive for the virus.

If the result of his test is confirmed with another positive test, it would mean that Süle would miss both tomorrow’s match against RB Salzburg and Saturday’s match against Borussia Dortmund. This would even the odds for BVB, at least in terms of central defenders, as Emre Can also tested positive and will be unable to compete in Der Klassiker.
I don’t want to be speculative, but it’s hard to ignore the fact that as players have travelled internationally for the Nations League and the Champions League, more and more have tested positive for COVID-19. Many European questions like France, the Czech Republic, and Italy have case totals that are rising much higher than they are in Germany, so questions need to be asked about whether or not it’s safe to travel to these countries. I would not be shocked if we saw Champions League matches put on hold.
