Good morning, Fear the Wall.
I don’t know about you guys, but after Borussia Dortmund’s loss to Lazio on Tuesday, I would love nothing more than for BVB to pound Schalke into pixie dust on Saturday. I’m not the only one who feels that way. Michael Zorc spoke to the media ahead of the upcoming Revierderby, and revealed their dissatisfaction with the team’s performance against Lazio.
Michael Zorc Roasts BVB’s Effort Against Lazio
Zorc was pitching fastballs in this one. According to an interview with Kicker, Zorc applauded the team’s efforts, specifically regarding social-distancing guidelines, saying “We followed the rules of social-distancing in an exemplary manner,” clearly in reference to what he perceived as a lack of willingness to fight hard and get down and dirty against Lazio, who did a good job bullying BVB out of the midfield on Tuesday.
He went on to say that he expected a reaction from BVB against Schalke on Saturday. Schalke are likely going to be fighting relegation this season and will be desperate for three points on Saturday. There will be no shortage of passion from the royal blues, so Zorc expects his players to meet those effort levels.
Bundesliga Clubs Perform Well in the Europa League
There were two Bundesliga clubs who played in the Europa League yesterday, and not only did both win, but Leverkusen in particular won in convincing fashion. Peter Bosz’s squad absolutely shelled OGC Nice, Lucien Favre’s former Ligue 1 side, to the tune of 6-2. Hoffenheim also defeated Red Star Belgrade 2-0.
