Bild has claimed that both Roman Bürki and Jadon Sancho will not play this weekend against Freiburg. This news comes despite Favre’s likely rotation after the midweek Supercup fixture against Bayern. Given that Sancho only took part in light training yesterday, while Bürki drove home after taking his COVID test, it seems unlikely either will feature in Dortmund’s match day squad.
However, there is still time for Favre to change his mind about selecting Sancho, should he prove to be fit enough to play. The club’s approach to Bürki’s illness seems to be much more cautious, feeling relatively comfortable having Hitz in goal against a club that has not competed for the title in past seasons.
After last week’s frustrating loss to Augsburg, Favre will surely want to select a team that is prepared to beat their opponents and get the victory tomorrow, and the question remains whether Sancho will be ready in time.
What starting lineup would you prefer for tomorrow’s game?
