Good morning, Fear the Wall.

Lukasz PIszczek to be questionable Against Lazio

Lukasz Piszczek suffered what appeared to be a pretty nasty eye injury against Hoffenheim on Saturday while tussling after a loose ball. From personal experience, I can attest that eye injuries can be extremely painful and debilitating. Fortunately, it doesn’t seem like Piszczek’s injury will be long-lasting, as he’s reportedly travelled with the team to Rome to face Lazio.

Whether or not he’ll be able to start tomorrow is still uncertain. If he isn’t, then BVB will be in a bit of a pickle. Manuel Akanji is still in quarantine from his COVID-19 infection, Zagadou is still injured, and Emre Can is serving a one-match ban after his red card against Paris Saint-Germain last season. If Piszczek is unfit, then Thomas Delaney will likely have to start as a center back in his place.

Tomorrow’s match is likely going to be the most difficult of the group stage for BVB, so going into it with only one healthy defender is very disadvantageous. All we can say is, good luck Delaney!
