  • CAF Young Player of the Year

Yesterday the award for Africa’s best young player was awarded to our very own Achraf Hakimi. Hakimi is a Moroccan national and regularly earning caps with Moroccan National Team. Achraf is currently on loan with BVB from Real Madrid who I’m sure are very happy their player has come so far in Dortmund. Hopefully Hakimis success with the team means he will want to stay with Dortmund for the future.

  • Haaland report

The Athletic has a great in depth dive by Raphael Honigstien on how BVB won the race to sign Erling Haaland. Its clear the team really wanted Haalad to join. There is a lot of fluff in the piece about how the FO went for Erling but there is some interesting tidbits. Most importantly its striking how much Puma got involved here on the signing. I know many fans were disappointed when BVB resigned with Puma over the summer but Puma is the major reason we were able to sign Haaland. Honigstien says that Puma’s CEO stepped in and actually offered Haaland, a Nike athlete, a more lucrative deal with Puma to sweeten the move to BVB. If Puma is getting this involved with BVB transfers it can only be a good thing for the club as we fight to stay competitive with the big money EPL.
