As is well known, Mario Götze’s contract situation has long been an issue at Borussia Dortmund. It looks like a decision about his future has been made. According to a report by Bild, Götze will not renew his contract with BVB and will therefore switch to a new club in the summer.

The black and yellow and Götze could not agree in the end. Götze is currently one of the top earners at BVB with an annual salary of 10€ million. Dortmund’s offer was 7€ million, something the player was unwilling to accept. Hertha BSC Berlin and Inter Milan are rumored to be interested in Götze this summer.

Borussia Dortmund have sadly lost a club legend to a long battle with illness. Former BVB goalkeeper Hans Tilkowski passed away on Sunday at the age of 84.

The goalkeeper was part of Borussia Dortmund’s 1965 DFB Cup winning side and the legendary team of 1966 that won the European Cup Winners’ Cup against Liverpool which not only won BVB’s first international title but the first international title won by any German side.

If you are not familiar with Tilkowski and what he meant to Borussia Dortmund, the club has published an informative and very interesting article about his life and his career.

  • Matchday!

Borussia Dortmund will start the year with a friendly against Belgian side Standard Liège. Expect different line-ups today than you’re used to and maybe some younger players getting a chance to play. This will be wildly different than what we will get in a couple weeks.
