- Marbella
The team finished their third day of training in Marbella, Spain today as injury woes start to build. New signing Erling Haaland has yet to train with the squad as he deals with knee issues. As Favre ran drills testing out the back three, he had to use goalkeepers Luca Unbehaun and Eric Oelschlägel as defenders since Leo Balerdi and Imannuel Pherai are not fit enough to train on the field. At least Favre looks like he is still thinking about the back three after reports said he may be thinking about a change. Our first friendly of the training camp is tomorrow against Standard Liege. Hopefully the game will be broadcast on BVB’s YouTube like the summer friendlies were.
- Paco Update
Not much new news on the Paco transfer front. He is training with the team in Marbella and currently is our lone fit striker(again). BILD put out a rumor that Athletico Madrid were willing to pay €40 million for him but there are no corroborating stories from the Spanish press. Paco being unhappy makes making a good deal tough for BVB. Hopefully Favre or someone in the FO can convince him that staying at BVB this spring is the right move for him.
- Burki contract talks
RN is also reporting(paywall blocked) that BVB and Roman Burki are close to reaching a deal on a new contract. Burki is currently signed to the club until 2021. If RN’s source is to be believed we should be hearing about this extension sooner then later. Or course RN doesn’t have a confirmation on how many years are being added onto Burki’s contract or what he will be payed but I guess that’s what the hold up may be. Burki has been pivotal for BVB the past few years and it is great business if BVB can lock him down.
