- Matchday 19
BVB score 5 goals for the second week in a row to rout Köln 5:1 and get closer to leader Leipzig. While it was a great team performance the story of the matchday was once again Dortmund’s new striker Erling Haaland who scored a brace of the bench ans is now averaging a goal every 12 minutes! He likely won’t continue that insane average but BVB finally have a real striker which helps tremendously in the title race.
About that title race, RB Leipzig lost 0:2 to Eintracht Frankfurt and now have games against Borussia Mönchengladbach and Bayern Munich coming up. Both of those teams won their games, Bayern 5:0 against Schalke and Gladbach 3:1 against Mainz, which means the Bundesliga has a very real race for the title between the top 4 teams.
Bayer Leverkusen was able to jump ahead of Schalke in the table thanks to their 3:0 against Fortuna Düsseldorf who stay at the bottom of the table.
SC Paderborn picked up three crucial points against SC Freiburg but are still in the relegation zone as well as Werder Bremen after their 0:3 loss to TSG Hoffemheim.

- Emre Can to BVB
Multiple outlets claim the transfer of Emre Can to Borussia Dortmund is imminent. The German international is currently under contract fro Juventus but wants to leave the Italian side and BVB are currently the favorites to sign him.
According to Bild the central midfielder would cost 30€ million and earn 10€ million per year with the black and yellows. A decision should be made until Wednesday with Bayern Munich, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur also interested. However, Can prefers a move to Dortmund because of an easier path to the starting line-up.
kicker also confirm BVB’s interest in Can but also mention the difficulty of a possible move because of the financial aspects. Can would need to accept a lower salary, he is currently on 14€ million per year with Juventus. In addition, kicker claims that BVB plan with Can as a centre-back instead of a central midfielder, Can could potentially challenge Manuel Akanji who has been disappointing this season.
