Good morning, Fear the Wall!

Pre-Game Presser

Michael Zorc and Lucien Favre held their weekly press conference ahead of BVB’s match against Werder Bremen this weekend. They gave several injury updates: Nico Schulz will be out on Saturday, while Mats Hummels will have to be evaluated further.

This was certainly an interesting article from Deutsche Welle. I’m not sure I agree its conclusion. The author argues that Sancho’s production in terms of goals and assists is irreplaceable. While this may be true, there are other players on the squad like Axel Witsel or Mats Hummels whose contributions aren’t reflected by goals and assists.

Messi out 7-10 Days

Here’s some Group F news: with Barcelona set to face Inter Milan next week, Lionel Messi has suffered a thigh injury and may not be able to play in the Champions League. This could have significant repercussions for Borussia Dortmund. If Inter are able to defeat Barcelona, it could make BVB’s passage through the Champions League significantly harder. Right now, Inter are top of the table in Italy, and have only conceded one goal under Antonio Conte’s defensive system. For BVB fans, this will be a very notable story moving forward.
