- Matchday 5 recap
BVB dropped vital points in a 2:2 draw against Eintracht Frankfurt. The black and yellows were yet again lethargic in an away game and could not hang onto the lead. Lucien Favre will need to get this team on track if they want to compete for the title or else both Bayern and Leipzig will leave BVB behind.
Speaking of RB Leipzig, they defended their spot on top of the table with a 3:0 win against BVB’s next opponent Werder Bremen. The Northern Germans have some serious injury problems, Dortmund should be able to defeat them at home on Saturday.
Bayern Munich had no trouble with 1.FC Köln, their 4:0 win puts them back in second place. SC Freiburg have moved one spot back to fourth after their 1:1 draw against FC Augsburg.
Meanwhile, Schalke 04 seem to have recovered from their horrible last season. BVB’s rivals are in fifth place after their 2:1 win against Mainz 05. They could possibly compete for the international places however their three wins have come against 3 of the bottom 4 teams right now. Next weeks match against Leipzig could show if they are a serious threat this season.
Borussia Mönchengladbach bounced back from their Europa League defeat with a late 2:1 win against Fortuna Düsseldorf and are now in sixth place.
In the relegation zone Hertha BSC Berlin got their first win of the season against SC Paderborn who remain in last place.
Tonight VfL Wolfsburg host TSG Hoffenheim and the wolves could jump to third place with a win against a struggling Hoffenheim side.

- Reus snaps at question after Frankfurt match
Marco Reus is usually rather quiet. BVB’s captain is not known for outbursts but he seemed rather annoyed after the game yesterday. A Sky-reporter asked Reus if the late equalizer was about lacking mentality and Reus snapped:
“That’s getting on my nerves with your mentality shit - honestly. [...] Are you serious now? The 2:2 was a mentality problem? We’ve done a stupid job, but I do not care about your mentality shit now, the same shit every week.”
Daily Buzz: Does BVB have a mentality problem or are other things to blame for BVB’s results?
