- Champions League
Matchday 1 of the Champions League has come to an end and we had some big upsets yesterday.
Bayer Leverkusen surprisingly lost to Lokomotive Moscow 1:2 at home. Leverkusen dominated the entire game but two individual mistakes doomed them against the Russian team. Leverkusen are in a group with Juventus and Atletico Madrid so dropping points at home to Moscow seems to have already put an end to their hopes of qualifying for the knockout round.
Meanwhile, Bayern Munich had no trouble with Red Star Belgrade and won 3:0 in the Allianz Arena. Another surprise came in Bayern’s group where last year’s finalist Tottenham Hotspur wasted a two-goal lead and only drew 2:2 against Olympiacos.
Ateltico Madrid manged to do the same, coming back from a two-goal deficit to draw Juventus. Another notable result was Real Madrid’s 0:3 loss in Paris to PSG. Both teams were decimated by injuries but Thomas Tuchel’s team still found a way to dominate without Neymar, Mbappé and Cavani.
RESULTS!

- Europa League
The first matchday of the Champions League has concluded but the next international tournament will start today. Three Bundesliga teams start today on matchday 1 of the Europa League.
Eintracht Frankfurt will host Arsenal which is the highlight of the first matchday. Frankfurt have lost their three star strikers but will still try to replicate their success from last season when they went all the way to the semifinals.
The two remaining German teams should be the favorites in their duels. VfL Wolfsburg take on Ukrainian side PFK Oleksandrija and Borussia Mönchengladbach play Wolfsberger AC from Austria.
