The Champions League Group Stage is finally settled. The prestigious competition had their draw today and BVB’s group is all set. We are against Barcelona, Inter Milan, and Slavia Prague.
Barcelona are an interesting draw for us. While they are definitely one of the hardest teams we could have drawn we haven’t played them since 1997 . This will be the first time that Messi will visit the Westfalenstadoin. Also it will likely be a unceremonious return for Ousmane Dembele. He will definitely be boo’d. Also Barca is who we got Mateu Morey and Paco Alcacer from.I guess there are lots of connections between to the clubs despite us not playing in some time.
Our other big opponents are Inter Milan. Inter are a major Italian team and also another of the major teams we haven’t played since the 90s. They have an insane atmosphere in their stadiums(especially when their fans are booing their own player Icardi.) While Inter were Pot 3 they will not be so simple for BVB to dispatch. In Seria A they were 4th last year with 69 points(NICE!). They recently added Romelu Lukaku whom is playing very well after his heated exit from Manchester United.
Our last opponent is Slavia Prague. this is their second ever time in the UCL and they are in the hardest group. Rough for them good for us. At least we don’t have to travel far or deal with awful fans as we would have had to with Locomotiv or Belgrade.
This is probably one of the toughest group we could have drawn. How do you feel about BVBs UCL Group Stage opponents?
