Axel Witsle talked about his youth, his entire career and his move to BVB in an extensive interview with Spox. Here’s what he had to say about his move to Dortmund:
“First Michael Zorc approached me, then Lucien Favre called me. I also had other offers, maybe I could have gone to Paris or Manchester, but I did not want to wait. I had the feeling that I was the first choice for Dortmund. It is important to feel good when you go to a new club. After discussions with Zorc, Favre and Hans-Joachim Watzke I decided. Dortmund is a top club and I really wanted to come to a European top club, because maybe it was my last chance at the age of 29. The negotiations with Tianjin were not easy, but in the end, everything worked out.”
The interview in its entirety is very interesting and a good read for every BVB-fan.
- English media has jokes
Yeah so the Mirror thought it was a good idea to publish this article:
Man Utd lining up £100m January transfer for Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho, according to reportshttps://t.co/K1YpDUW7D0 pic.twitter.com/RFihDCq9ZL

There is no way Borussia Dortmund will sell Jadon Sancho in January when their goal is to compete for titles this season. On top of that 100£ million is completely laughable for a player of Sancho’s caliber who still has a contract until 2022. This won’t happen but we will have the joy to read this for the rest of this season.
16 year old starlet Eduardo Camavinga became famous last week when was the best player in Stade Rennes’ 2:1 victory over PSG. The young central midfielder is obviously talented and could be one of Europe’s best prospects at the position so naturally every European top team is interested in him.
According to L’Equipe, BVB is one of those clubs. The French outlet mentions the black and yellows but also clubs like Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Arsenal and Tottenham. However, at this point it’s to early to tell if BVB are really trying to sign him, the youngster just started his professional career and will try to establish himself in Rennes first before making a move.
- Champions League playoffs
The first leg of the Champions League playoffs has been played and there were some surprises. Ajax Amsterdam, who were in the semifinals last season and just seconds away from a finals berth, might not even make it to this year’s group stage. The Dutch team just got a scoreless draw against APOEL.
Meanwhile, Olympiacos 4:0 win over Krasnodar was surprisingly clear and it seems like the Greek team has already secured their spot in the group stage. The other results are all relatively close and make sure every team still has a chance to advance.
