Borussia Dortmund have signed Kolbeinn Birgir Finnsson from FC Brentford. The 19-year old central midfielder has signed a three year contract and will play for BVB II for now. Hopefully the talented young player can develop and turn into an option for the first team at some point down the line.
Hans-Joachim Watzke has talked during the sports talkshow Wontorra on tour on Sky about BVB’s transfer activity, Guerreiro’s contract situation and Bayern’s new superstar and many more topics. Here’s what he had to say:
On the club’s transfer activity this summer and if the club is at it’s limits:
“We did not go all in. People did not even realize that we were also earning 128€ million on transfers, of course, we had to raise the budget a bit, but that was not disappointing, it is our task to develop Borussia Dortmund.“
On the current situation with Raphael Guerreiro:
“We would like to extend, we have been trying for months, but the player has to play along as well. Michael Zorc has already started negotiations. There will be some clarity in the next few days or weeks. We have to think economically, we can not let him leave for free. Our clear goal is that we want him to play at BVB this season and we want him to renew his contract. He had a good career here so far, we know what we have in him.”
On Bayern’s new signing Coutinho:
“The fact is that he’s good for the Bundesliga. He is not a typical outside player like Leroy Sané would have been. He is an exceptional player though. Ivan Perisic is also a very good player. We’ve had him here, we know it.”
According to Bild, BVB have doubled Jadon Sancho’s salary from the initial 3€ million per year to now 6€ million. The young English star definitely deserved to get a raise considering his production but he did not extend his contract, the length still remains the same, until 2022.
- BVB continue to be linked to Serie A strikers (Tuttosport)
Dortmund has been repeatedly linked to AS Roma striker Patrik Schick this summer, now a new player has been named, Arkadiusz Milik. The Polish striker is said to be worried about his situation with Napoli in case Mauro Icardi would join from Inter.
If Icardi joins Napoli, Milik could be on his way out but a 40€ million price tag seems a bit to much for Dortmund who still have Alcacer and Götze for the position.
