- The Bundesliga season is here!
The season finally kicks off today, with Bayern Munich hosting Hertha BSC later today. Most of the fixtures will be played tomorrow, including Dortmund’s home game against Augsburg. Perhaps the biggest game of the weekend will be the East German clash between Union Berlin and RB Leipzig, which will be played on Sunday. The full fixture list this weekend:
Friday:
Bayern Munich vs Hertha Berlin
Saturday:
SC Freiburg vs Mainz
Borussia Dortmund vs Augsburg
Wolfsburg vs FC Koln
Bayer Leverkusen vs Paderborn
Werder Bremen vs Fortuna Dusseldorf
Borussia Monchengladbach vs Schalke
Sunday:
Eintracht Frankfurt vs Hoffenheim
Union Berlin vs RB Leipzig
- Dortmund are in for a new striker
Have you ever bought into a rumor so completely that it has cost you money? I had a friend that was absolutely 100% certain that De Boer would be the next Saints manager because a pal had told him the Dutch coach had just checked in at a posh hotel in the local area. As it turns out, that was complete nonsense, but he was £10 lighter for it. Rumors are dumb, usually. But that doesn’t stop us buying into them, especially when we so desperately want them to be true. Which brings me to the best news of the day:
Luka Jovic will be joining BVB on loan this season! According to rumors coming from Don Balon, Dortmund are discussing a loan deal with Real Madrid for the young Serbian. As far as I can tell, this is complete nonsense, but I don’t care, it’s happening now. I will be betting all the money I have in this world, which is approximately $5, on this coming true.
- ‘Inside Borussia Dortmund’ is now available on Prime Video
The first episode in the documentary series taking an inside look at BVB last season is now available on Amazon’s streaming service.
It starts with football’s most erotic manager, Lucien “Daddy” Favre, waxing lyrical about players needing to be able to run. That’s his philosophy, apparently. Players need to be able to run. That’s our world class coach right there.
I’m currently watching it now. But for those of you that know how the season ends, please no spoilers.
Daily Buzz: The summer is finally over, and we get to watch Bundesliga football again. At last! Which game are you most pumped for this weekend (excluding the Dortmund game)?
