  • DFB Cup

The first round of the DFB Cup has come to an end yesterday with Bayern Munich defeating Energie Cottbus, 3:1. The Bavarians didn’t have much trouble with the Regionalliga side which tried all game to keep Bayern from running up the score.

VfL Wolfsburg had a bit more trouble with 3.Liga side Hallescher FC, even though the wolves had the lead twice in regulation they still couldn’t close it out in 90 minutes. Wolfburg’s captain Guilavogui got sent off which helped Halle to equalize in the last minute and send the game to extra time. There Wolfsburg was able to score twice and secure their place in the next round.

In the remaining two games VfB Stuttgart won 1:0 against Hansa Rostock and Hannover 96 continue their downward spiral, losing in the first round against Karlsruher SC 0:2 after two winless games in the 2.Bundesliga.

  • Gomez joins Huesca on loan

Sergio Gomez will join SD Huesca in the second division in Spain on loan for one year. There is no option to buy included in the loan deal and Gomez is expected to return after next season.

The young midfielder desperately needs playing time and he will supposedly get just that with Huesca. Hopefully he can develop and return to Dortmund with a chance to break into the first team.

Borussia Dortmund have announced a significant (but expected) decline in turnover compared to the previous fiscal year.

A year ago BVB was able to declare record numbers due to the sales of Ousmane Dembelé and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. In total Dortmund earned 222,7€ million from player sales, a sum that they can hardly reproduce every year.

However the turnover without transfers was 313,3€ million, a sum that they will be able to surpass. Dortmund’s still plans to surpass a yearly turnover without transfers of 500€ million in 2025.

  • Matthews on loan to Helsingborg IF

Dortmund have loaned out another young player, Tashreeq Matthews has joined Helsingborg IF in the Swedish Allsvenskan. Metthews had just returned from his loan in Utrecht.
