Its official, Omer Toprak is transferring to Werder Bremen. The deal is a loan with an obligation to buy at the end of the season. There is no confirmed transfer fee as of yet. Since its loan with obligation to buy it won’t go on to BVBs books until next year. The 30 year old center back joined BVB in 2017.
Last season Toprak barley broke into the squad so its no surprise the team is moving on from him. However since we already sold Diallo this does leave us losing two former CB’s in one window. Toprak was one of BVBs best performers in the preseason so its a shame to let him go. Dortmund are the kings of having bad injury luck in the Fall so being thin at the CB position could be rough. He will fit right in on a Werder Bremen team that has been middling for years.
Good luck Omer!
