  • Matchday!

Today Borussia Dortmund will continue their pre-season preparations with a friendly against current Champions League winners FC Liverpool. The game will be played in Notre Dame Stadium in South Bend, Indiana at 8 p.m. ET.

The Reds coached by former BVB-coach Jürgen Klopp will be a tough test for BVB this early in the summer despite being without some of their stars on offense like Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane.

Klopp gave his opinion of BVB’s squad ahead of the friendly and called it an “incredibly strong roster”, the coach especially praised the addition of Mats Hummels who he described as a “natural leader”.

Hopefully Dortmund can continue to build on their promising performances in the first two friendlies and improve while we get closer to the start of the season.

VfL Wolfsburg were always interested in Maximilian Philipp however a possible transfer was always tied to a possible Josip Brekalo-move away from the Wolves. This could have changed because of Daniel Ginczek’s injury, the striker injured his back and had to have surgery which will sideline him for a significant period of time.

This may force Wolfsburg to make another move and Philipp would supposedly be their first option. According to kicker Philipp had already talks with Wolfsburg and would be available for just under 20€ million.

André Schürrle still hasn’t found a new club but his agent Ingo Haspel has confirmed that there is interest from two Russian clubs and they are in talks:

“We are still interested in the possibility of continuing his career in Russia. We speak with Russian clubs, but I can not name exact names.”

The two clubs are apparently Lokomotive and Spartak Moscow who want to acquire the 2014 World Cup winner. The biggest problem is still Schürrle’s salary, it might help that Borussia Dortmund are willing to make concessions on the transfer fee to make a move possible.
