Earlier today, the Italian football outlet Gazetto dello Sport reported that Borussia Dortmund were in the pole position to buy Moise Kean, a 19-year-old Italian forward, from Juventus. This report, confirmed by Kicker, also reported that Premier League side Everton are in the hunt for the Italian starlet, having recently had a €35 million offer rejected by La Signora Vecchia.
Moise Kean is a tremendous talent, and the exact kind of target that BVB should be chasing. He’s fast, is a good finisher, and at the age of 19, he’s only going to better. He managed to score 6 goals in limited minutes in Serie A last season, meaning he’s capable of producing when on the pitch. He’s also been a staple of the Italian U-21s. Fortunately for BVB, Kean hasn’t been able to get much playing time, with Cristiano Ronaldo and Mario Mandzukic receiving most of the primetime minutes for the Old Lady. It’s unlikely that Kean would have a starting position at center forward locked down right away. He would likely split responsibilities at striker with Paco Alcacer and Mario Götze.
If BVB do end up purchasing Kean, then Juventus will likely request that a buyback clause be added to his contract, meaning that they would have first rights to his transfer should he develop into a star player.
