BVB-legend Lukaz Piszczek has talked to Polish newspaper Przeglad Sportowy about his future and a possible extension. The right backs contract is running out after this upcoming season and he had indicated that it would be his last but now Piszczek is open to return for one more year if he is healthy enough:

“At this point, I do not want to say clearly that I will finish my career next year, we’ll see how it goes, so if there’s an option to extend, I’m open to it.”

Sassuolo Calcio are on the verge of signing Jeremy Toljan on loan with an option to buy. According to Gianluca Di Marzio Toljan isn’t the only BVB-player the Italian side is interested in, center-back Ömer Toprak seems to have caught their eye as well.

BVB still need to sell some players from their oversized squad and likely wouldn’t be opposed to selling Toprak.

The captain reiterated what Watzke and Zorc already have said, the goal is to compete for the title next season:

“We want to play at the top, that’s not only the club leadership’s opinion, but also out of the team. Due to the last season and the new signings we have made, our goal must be to be at the top and to do better in the Cup and the Champions League as well. But of course everything has to fit. Then a lot is possible. The squad as it is now is well positioned. The coach can, I think, be very satisfied.“

Even though Bayern Munich are the obvious favorites for the title, Reus thinks RB Leipzig could interfere in the duel for the championship:

“Why should not they be up there? They have a very good squad, they have a good coach. But we can not and do not want to talk so much about others. It’s up to us to make it to the top. The more we get distracted and look at others, the more that affects us in the way we want to play.“

Reus even commented on the silly quarrel between both clubs who the better center-back is:

“Of course Mats (laughs). No, I think both bring everything with them. Niklas is maybe a bit faster, but Mats has the better eye for build-up. This discussion is idle. Both are outstanding center-backs.“

Furthermore Reus talked about what needs to improve next season, Mats Hummels role in the team and his involvement in recruiting Julian Brandt.

Despite his injury Eintracht Frankfurt are still interested in Sebastian Rode who played on loan for the club during the second half of last season. Rode was a perfect fit for Adi Hütter’s system and would certainly have a better chance at a spot in the starting eleven there than in Dortmund. According to kicker both clubs could agree to a deal for 4€ million.
