Official: Dortmund sign Mateu Morey from FC Barcelona

After weeks of reports it is now official, BVB have signed Mateu Morey. The 19 year old right back will join BVB on a 4 year contract until 2024. He last played for FC Barcelona.

Morey never broke through to the Barca first team, only ever playing for the Barcelona youth teams. I’d expect that BVB starts him on BVB II or the U-19’s first then eases him into the squad. With such a long contract there is no rush. Morey impressed with his stint on the Spanish National U-17 team, winning the U-17 Euro competition. He also won the U-17 UEFA League title. Dortmund don’t have a ton of depth at fullback but Morey still probably won’t be called up unless there are injuries or serious dips in form from those ahead of him. I’d expect we get our first look at him in BVB’s upcoming US test matches this month. Welcome to BVB Mateu!
