Marcoe Reus has talked to kicker about BVB’s past season, the unfortunate international schedule and the next season.
First of all he spoke about the unfortunate timing of the last friendlies and why it’s a burden for the players:
“I think the current dates are very inappropriate, and in my opinion, there should be an end for everyone after the Champions League final, when no tournament is played in the summer. Many of us were in the last competitive match on May 18th. Since then we have had to regenerate, but on the other hand, we must not neglect fitness, which is extremely difficult for both the head and the body. “
BVB’s captain also looked back at the last season and the future with Schulz, Hazard and Brandt coming in:
“I was even annoyed twice, because we not only missed the title, but we must also attribute ourselves to this mistake, because we were clearly ahead. Everyone has had their experience now, we’ve already done well [with transfers], so our goal must be to stay on top and finish with the title.“
Zinedine Zidane does not plan with Sergio Reguilon anymore which means the player could be available this summer. Real are working to bring Lyon’s Ferland Mendy to Madrid which makes the 22-year-old Reguilon expendable. This brings BVB into the conversation. The black and yellows have apparently asked about the young left back with CD Leganes being another team that’s interested.
Reguilon hasn’t played that much last season but he’s a talented fullback which is a rare breed these days. Bringing him in would increase BVB’s depth at left back but it very likely depends on Marcel Schmelzer’s future. In addition Dortmund just signed Nico Schulz to be their starting left back and Reguilon will likely look for a team where he has a clear path to the starting eleven.
According to calciomercato Mario Mandzukic will leave Juventus and he has two options, either a move to the Chinese Super League or join Borussia Dortmund. Basically the 33-year-old striker can now decide if he wants one last huge payday or if he wants to compete in one of the top leagues in the world with BVB.
- Guerreiro wins vs Akanji
Portugal won the first semifinal of the UEFA Nations League against Switzerland with 3:1 yesterday. Cristiano Ronaldo scored all three goals for Portugal and was the deciding factor during the game. Sadly Manuel Akanji did not have a great performance being partly involved in two of Portugal’s goals.
The second semifinal will be today between England and the Netherlands and the final will be played on Sunday.
- BVB U17 win 4:1 in the first leg
BVB’s U17 team have all but secured a spot in the championship final with their convincing 4:1 win against VfL Wolfsburg.
Man of the match was once again Youssoufa Moukoko who scored twice, which brings his season total to 47, and assisted on one other goal. Dortmund controlled most of the game but still gifted away the equalizer in the first half, however they were able to keep up the pressure and in the end secure a comfortable 4:1 win.
The second leg will be played on Saturday in Wolfsburg.
